Acrobatic Dance, or Acro as it is commonly referred to by dancers and dance professionals, is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. Often defined by unique choreography, Acro dancers seamlessly blend musicality, emotional expression, lines and extension with acrobatic movements in a dance context. With roots in traditional Chinese dance, Acro has stayed a prominent and well appreciated style with the popularization of contemporary circus productions like Cirque du Soleil and shows like So You Think You Can Dance.
Acro classes can be enjoyable for many, from aspiring circus performers, to cheerleaders wanting to gain better technique with their tricks, to dancers looking for a fun and challenging way to move. Acro dancers build technique including balancing, limbering, tumbling and partnering, based in flexibility, contortion and strength.
Our Acro curriculum begins with our Preschool programs, introducing basic tumbling in our Tiny Tots classes, and also in our combination classes (Creative and Kinder). From there, we offer Beginner, Intermediate, Intermediate/Advanced, and Advanced Acrobatic Arts. Level placement is based on past experience and accomplished acrobatic skills. If you have questions about class placement for this style, please contact us.
