HIP HOP dance evolved from street dancing. The cornerstone of hip hop is breakdancing which appeared in NYC during the early 1970’s. As hip hop music changed, new dance styles began appearing, evolving hip hop dance to an upright position as opposed to the tricks and ground moves of breakdancing.
